Society for Science & the Public (SSP) is one of the nation’s oldest non-profit membership organizations dedicated to public engagement in science and science education. Established in 1921, and headquartered in Dupont Circle, SSP is a leading advocate for the understanding and appreciation of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement. Through its acclaimed education competitions, including the Intel Science Talent Search, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and the Broadcom MASTERS, and its award-winning publications, Science News and Science News for Kids, as well as its weekly e-publication for the iPad, Science News Prime, SSP is committed to inform, educate, and inspire.
Your donation through DoMore24 will help SSP inspire young scientists, encourage more scientific discoveries that are key to human advancement, and engage the public about why science is vital to our common future. To this end:
- Just last week, more than 6,300 students, teachers, and parents from the Washington D.C. metro area visited our freely accessible and award-winning Science News for Kids website. Donor support makes this site possible.
- Last month, more than 30,000 people from the metro area visited our award-winning Science News site, the content of which is also supported by donors.
- Over the past year, we opened the doors of our Intel Science Talent Search and Broadcom MASTERS competitions, held here in Washington, DC, to more than a thousand local students, parents and other interested science enthusiasts.
