Preparing for Do More 24

Is it difficult to set up a fundraising page?
Creating a fundraising page on Do More 24's website, run by Neon Giving Days, is simple. Once you have registered your organization to participate, your page will be automatically built from the information you provided. You'll also have the opportunity to edit that information and update your page up until shortly before the actual giving day. If you activated your Do More 24 page last year, all you will have to do is update it.

If you have difficulty in the setup process, you may contact our hotline at 202.488.2009 or email questions@domore24.org for support.

FOR UNITED WAY NCA PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS & RETURNING PARTICIPANTS FROM 2022:
Your organization has been provided with a profile in the Do More 24 system. Please complete the profile with your logo and background information. Your user account and organization profile have been retained from last year. A password reset is available at the login page.

Will there be training for participating nonprofits?
YES: Register for each training session, and watch the recordings, below.

Our organization is afraid participating in Do More 24 will cut into our normal donor giving.
We understand your organization's concern. Do More 24 is designed to expand your donor base, not diminish donations. Do More 24 is planned for a time of year to avoid competing with the height of workplace campaign fundraising or end-of-year giving. By setting the date in spring, we anticipate that we may attract new donor groups and more nonprofit participation in the day of giving. You can also remind your current donors that this is only a 24-hour campaign, and is not intended to replace their normal giving.

How will United Way NCA help my nonprofit with Do More 24?
Your United Way continues to stand with you to provide the value and critical tools you need to support your Do More 24 (#DoMoreIn24) fundraising efforts. Specifically, we will provide:
  • A unique URL to support our #DoMoreIn24 efforts. This year you can access the Do More 24 platform by visiting DoMore24.org.
  • Access to the Do More 24 online platform where you can create your own peer-to-peer Fundraisers page to engage your donors. The platform is currently open, and we encourage you to review or set up your page now.
  • Toolkit to provide guidance and marketing support.
  • Opportunities for donors to designate their gift as they have every year from the platform.
  • As in previous years, we will drive awareness of our #DoMoreIn24 efforts throughout the region by leveraging our great broadcast TV/radio and digital media partner relationships.

How can I get my donors excited about Do More 24?
Help your donors to feel as if they have a stake in Do More 24.

Here are a few tips:
  • For donors who are on social media, ask them to post/share your organization's involvement during Do More 24.
  • Determine specific donation requests and communicate them to your donors - your goals ($, number of donors, etc.). Make them feel a part of your day and, in turn, they will help you reach your goal
  • Encourage your donors to promote Do More 24 in their workplaces to increase your name recognition and support.
  • Share an organizational success story that will draw in donors and reinforce why your organization is so impactful and why their donation will contribute to that impact.

Fees and Donation Information

How much does it cost for our nonprofit to participate?
Participating in Do More 24 is completely free.

How much are the processing fees?
A fee of nine percent will be deducted from each donation. In addition to software and credit card processing costs, a portion of the nine percent deducted from each donation will also be granted to the United Way of the National Capital Area to cover administrative expenses. Since introducing the option for donors to cover the fees two years ago, we've found that nearly half of all fees are covered anyway!

Why is there a fee?
In order to make Do More 24 the best possible and profitable event for the entire nonprofit community, to offset the costs associated with managing the event. These include running the website, vetting the nonprofits, training, credit card processing, marketing, distributing the funds, and promotional items.

When will my organization receive our donations?
All donations will be sent to nonprofits by the end of June 2024. You can always see and export your donations under your My Donations tab.

Who is the donor information shared with and to what capacity?
Only United Way NCA and the nonprofit that received the donation will receive information about a donor. United Way NCA will use that information to provide receipts to donors for donating during Do More 24. The "thank you" note will be a tax-deductible receipt. Donors will only be contacted by United Way NCA if they "opt-in" to receive emails about next year's Do More 24 or if they request to receive additional information about United Way NCA.

Do nonprofits have to share their prospect list?
No. You will not need to share any prospective donor list or any distribution list to be used for Do More 24 outreach with United Way NCA.

Who receives Do More 24 donor information?
The only organizations receiving donor information are the nonprofit that received the donation and United Way NCA.

How is donor information protected?
No sensitive donor information will be collected, except for credit card information, which is not stored. Our systems and our business processes conform to the PCI DSS standards.
