NAMI DC is the State Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Founded in 1981, NAMI DC provides an array of education, advocacy and support to individuals living with serious mental health conditions. Through education (including NAMI Signature classes such as Family-to-Family, SAMSHA Best Practice since 2013), advocacy and support, NAMI DC has expanded its support to specifically focus on health and wellness of youth (with significant emphasis on early identification and intervention), service members (regardless of duty status) and their family members. NAMI DC can provide opportunities and activities to assist individuals who need to earn community service hours. And NAMI DC's Speakers' Bureau includes clinicians, along with consumers, family members and caregivers.

$24 provides a complimentary NAMI membership for eight (8) consumers.
$48 provides healthy snacks for weekly support group meetings for consumers, family members, veterans, and more (average weekly attendance: 15 people).
$124 can provide supplies/materials for NAMI In Our Own Voice presentations where consumers share their lived experiences with diverse audiences (such as schools, businesses, churches, college campuses, medical processionals and more!)
$240 can provide a breakfast or lunch for NAMI Family-to-Family or NAMI In Our Own Voice training.
$480 can provide a stipend to volunteers and/or interns who help coordinate NAMI DC's 1) crisis intervention outreach activities; 2) warmline efforts to reach out to consumers and/or family members who often feel isolated or 3) social activities to help consumers and/or family members remain connected.
